Student Parking

Pillager High School Families,

Please give attention to the upcoming adjustments to student parking. In short, student parking on school grounds will be designated to specific areas (see yellow on map below) and a parking permit will be required.

We realize that new routines take time to become normal. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation in helping improve our parking spaces. (note: administration and coaches will communicate parking norms outside of school hours for athletes, etc. as the year gets underway)

Sincerely,

David Reeves
Pillager HS Principal

Parking One-Pager: This document provides a map and summary of student parking procedures.

Parking Registration Form: Students need to complete the steps below to park on-campus.

Step 1) Fill out the parking permit registration form to indicate your intent to park on campus. You will need your drivers license information and vehicle make/model/color/license plate number.

Step 2) Bring your license and pick up your parking permit! Permits will be available in the commons during Open House and in the HS office during school hours. Permits are free of charge and can be moved from one vehicle to another if a student happens to drive a different vehicle to school on any given day.

Rationale for Changes to On-Campus Parking

1. Proper Allocation of Parking Space
Last year, parking lots near our HS entrance were routinely full. Students often arrived at school without a place to park. With student enrollment continuing to grow, we want to make sure we are appropriately allocating parking spaces for our students. We anticipate a larger number of new student drivers throughout the year as our sophomore students become eligible to drive (the sophomore class alone includes~115 students).

2. Organized and Efficient Spaces
We have a lot happening each day on the south side of campus (student parking, parent drop-off and pick-up, bus traffic, staff parking, etc.) Last year, our primary parking areas became congested due to a combination of staff parking, student parking, and parent drop-off and pick-up. Our goal is to simplify these areas by clearly designating student-only parking and creating a more predictable flow of traffic. This organization will help students, families, staff, and buses navigate the area more safely and efficiently.

3. Building Security
Building security is an ever-present priority. Standard practices in high schools is to limit building access to specific entrance/exit during the school day. As students come-and-go during the school day, they sign in/out of the main office. This practice helps us - and parents - know where students are during the school day. Student parking is now designated to areas that are within closest proximity to our HS entrance/office.
